Products in the Brassica group perform many functions.  They produce large amounts of biomass and if timed right for plowdown, can fight off certain species of nematodes and suppress weeds.  Bees also love to work on these blooming plants.  Since they are fast growing, weeds often perform poorly when trying to compete for sun, nutrients and moisture.
